We are currently seeking funds to complete an extensive multicultural arts curriculum. This is a two part project: 1) World Cultures, and 2) First Nations: the North American Indian.
1) The first set of materials (book, song CD, and demonstration DVD) will cover 10-12 sample cultures from around the world (exclusive of the North American Indian). For each culture there will be a short description of cultural norms followed by a collection of songs, dances, and games appropriate for the 7 - 12 year old child. Each song will be sung on the CD and each dance or game demonstrated on the DVD. The books will include sheet music and written directions for all dances and games, and approximately 10 cultural crafts.
2) The second set of materials will support our 4th and 5th Grade focus on continental social studies. Because Enki is based in North America, the first collection for this study will focus exclusively on the First Nations people/North American Indians and will include the same kinds of books and media as our world-wide collection. We hope over the years we will be able to expand the Multicultural Arts collections to include more complete representations of the diversity found on other continents.
